13 10 2009

My only excuse is that I was away last week ……

Just some creations to share -

Sketchbooks current challenge is by Heidi and is a shabby chic/vintage and add metal and is on until Midnight the 18th of November. I used Bella papers and a Tim Holtz frame as my metal.

Last weeks was Hannah’s challenge (which is now closed) was to do a layout about yourself with your age being the number of facts you had to have of yourself – I had to do 38 and the kids drew pictures of me.

P1140045 copy

and another layout is for round five of Project Fashionista over at Wicked Princess sadly I didn’t get voted into the final round but was chuffed when this layout got layout of the week. The challenge was to use pink, green and yellow on a layout and include ribbon.

It is SCRAPPIN’ PATCH’S 2nd BIRTHDAY

1 10 2009

It is Scrappin’ Patch’s birthday this month – so it’s party time . They got challenges, RAKS, prizes, fun, and something you all love – a bargain, and more new product arriving. The first challenge is up and there will be other things happening all month along with the normal challenges.

Here is my take for the challenge which is an all about scrapping challenge.

The papers I have used are Karen foster paper which can be found at Scrappin’ Patch here.

Also on at Scrappin’ Patch is the new Shabby chic Challenge by Liz and it is to use two colours and use a black and white photo.

Scrapping Challenges

28 09 2009

Scrappin’ Patch has a new challenge up today – which is by Liz and is a designers choice challenge. The challenge criteria is to use primary colours on a page and include song or book words on your layout.

I have been participating in a challenges myself over in Australia for the
Wicked Princess forum and here are the last three challenges.

This the challenge for week two

This weeks’ catwalk creation is all about Sleepwear. Think comfy and warm, but sexy at the same time. Your criteria includes using circles to represent spots on flannel pjs and the quote “We are shaped and fashioned by what we love” You must accessories your outfit with felt. As last week seemed rather tricky, you can embellish your outfit with other items, but YOU MUST include felt on there, and not just one tiny little bit in the corner .

Here is my layout. My felt is the flowers I made using the cuttlebug

P1130687 copy

week three was a little harder mainly becuse of the eyelets – I don’t know when I last used eyelets!!- the criteria was as follows

Avant garde – one for the boys. Fashion isn’t always about “glamour and pretty”. This week its all about mens fashion, and we want you to create an avant garde work of art, using metal as your material. Your criteria must include the color black and you must use 20 brads OR 20 eyelets on your work. You need to accessorise with at least 2 of the following – leather, mesh, wire, staples, paper clips, foil and bottle caps. If you choose to use ALL of the accessories, that is up to you. But, these are the ONLY accessories you can use on your design, as well as the brads criteria.

Here is my layout:

The current challenge which was announced yesterday was right down my alley and I have completed it already.

This was the challenge:

Every fashionista must have a bridal gown in her portfolio. This challenge is to create a beautiful “shabby chic” creation. Criteria for this fashion piece must include soft muted tones, lace, pearls. You can include other embellishments, but the above MUST in your design.

Here is my layout – it has dried up seaweed on it!! that I found on the beach.

Doing Challenges again!!

14 09 2009

I love do challenges but have not being taken part in many just creating them so when Wicked Princesses over the ditch had a sign up for a new contest I jumped at the chance to do the seven weeks of challenges – the main prize is all their October kits – I love their kits but postage is so steep it is just not in my budget. For the first challenge we had to use three patterned papers, two types of embellishments from a list and be inspired by an image they had on the forum. I chose feathers and bling!! Those feathers though caused me to have hayfever symptoms for the whole day after doing the layout!! The things we do for our art!!

Week 3 – Spring it On over at the Sketchbook

14 09 2009

My layout is about Katies new start and I dry brushed a transparency for my background and found this set of wings from an emporuim shop.

Scrap Tech Tuesday at Scrappin’ Patch – Painting with Glimmermist

14 09 2009

Scrap Tech Tuesday this month is how you can use glimmermist like a paint. Nice and simple especially if you like painting. In my example I have used a Prima paintable to illustrate this technique. Other ways you can do this is to stamp some images as you like on white cardstock as either a background or as embellishments you can cut out once painted. If you like doodling or drawing you could doodle/draw in black pen and fill in with the glimmermist.

Here is my layout I created to show this technique. The vines and flowers around the edge, the birds and the pocket watch have been painted with glimmermist:

P1130638 copy

How to use the Glimmermist like paint:
1. Select your Prima paintable, stamped images or doodles.
2. First unscrew the top of the glimmermist.
3. Dip a clean, dry thin paintbrush into the glimmermist.
4. Then paint on the Prima paintable, stamped images or doodles.
5. Remember to clean the paintbrush between colours.

Products Used:

Prima paintable, Prima bird,Prima paper – Tropics and Animal bash, Prima Flowers,K and Co alphas and stickers, Provocraft alphas,Shabby chic journalling spot, Green Tara Leaves, Robins Nest dewdrops and Glimmermist – Blue denim, olive green, tiger lily, pearl and vanilla

2Crafty Chipboard Inspiration and a new challenge

3 09 2009

I got some 2Crafty chipboard from Adrienne and Pauline at Scrappin’ Patch – thanks ladies.

I received the little mermaids – they are gorgeous. I decided to emboss them with Stamp Effects winter and summer illusions embossing powder and then adhered Robins nest dewdrops to the tail and used kindyglitz on the stars. This is the layout I did with lots of Prima goodness  which had found its way into a box that arrived this week at my door.

Also at Scrappin’ Patch Heidi has put up the Shabby chic Challenge which is a tribute to our father or the father of our children.
